A technical site visit was organized for Second Year Civil Engineering (SYCE) students of JSPM’s Jayawantrao Sawant Polytechnic College, Hadapsar to a Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) Plant located at Hadapsar on 08-08-2025. The visit aimed to provide knowledge about the production, quality control, and supply process of RMC used widely in modern construction. Students observed various stages of RMC production, including raw material storage, batching, mixing, and transportation. The plant engineer explained the functioning of silos, conveyors, weigh batching systems, mixers, and control panels. Students also learned about the importance of correct proportions, water-cement ratio, admixtures, and slump testing.
Safety measures and environmental considerations—such as dust control and waste management—were highlighted during the briefing. The engineer demonstrated the automated process that ensures uniform quality and the steps taken to test concrete before dispatching it to construction sites.
