Communication Lab

A Communication Lab is a specialized facility designed to provide practical experience in understanding and implementing various communication systems. It serves as an essential space for students, researchers, and professionals to explore the principles of both analog and digital communication through hands-on experimentation and simulation.

Key Features:

  • Core Equipment: The lab is equipped with essential tools such as Digital Storage Oscilloscopes (DSOs), Arbitrary Function Generators, Spectrum Analysers, Communication Trainer Kits, and Software Defined Radio (SDR) tools. These instruments enable users to analyse, design, and test communication systems effectively.

  • Component Availability: A wide range of components, including modulators, demodulators, transceivers, and various communication ICs, are readily available. This variety supports the construction and testing of diverse communication circuits.

  • Educational Focus: The lab facilitates experiments on various modulation techniques such as Amplitude Modulation (AM), Frequency Modulation (FM), Pulse Code Modulation (PCM), and Digital Modulation techniques. It also covers topics like Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), Error Control Coding, and Signal Sampling and Reconstruction.

  • Simulation Tools: Software tools like MATLAB and Simulink are utilized for system design and simulation exercises, allowing students to model and analyse communication systems in a virtual environment.

  • Application Areas: The lab provides insights into real-world applications such as Broadcast Radio/TV, Digital Telephony, Mobile Communications, Railway Signalling, Air Traffic Control, and Satellite Communications.
